PCs
Not long ago, having a computer at home was
seen as something of a luxury.
How times have changed! (See the sidebar
on the right to see how!)
Now, it's not at all uncommon for a house
to have several computers, maybe including a laptop and a PDA! From
home, you may be connecting in to your work network, giving you the
flexibility of working from home. Or you may have access from your
PDA to your inbox in the office.
What
we offer
We don't have a standard range of PCs, for
two reasons:
- Technology changes so fast that what's a good deal now will not
be such a good deal even in a month or two
- Everyone's different, and wants something different from a PC
Instead, what we prefer to do is to sit down with you, assess your
budget and your requirements, then show you the best that we can do
working within those constraints.
Options
Here are some of the factors that you'll
want to bear in mind:
- What's the computer for? Simple requirements such as browsing the
internet or word processing are far less demanding than graphics
or video processing.
- What software do you need? People often forget to include the price
of software when buying a PC, and are then surprised that it doesn't
include the quality of software that they were expecting.
- What hardware extras do you need? Playing or burning DVDs and CDs,
listening to high quality audio, using memory cards from your camera,
PDA or phone - all these requirements will need extras installing
on your computer so that it does just what you want.

What's
the norm?
Over the years, the recommended build for an office
computer has changed massively - just look at this to see how much
the last decade or so has seen a huge shift in what we expect to work
with!
And what's more, you'll see that PCs are not only getting
better, but also cheaper!
